LEADERS - IN - TRAINING 1
LIT1 is a three-week camp, combining regular camper programming with an introduction to leadership.
The LIT1 camp follows the same schedule as our other camps, however, there is a mixture of traditional camp programming, ropes initiative sessions, leadership seminars, and a 5-day canoe trip.
All LIT's will participate in a 5-day Wilderness Canoe trip in Killarney Provincial Park or Algonquin Provincial Park. Each leadership group will leave the luxuries of camp behind to embark on a canoe trip deep into the wilderness, where sightings of moose, deer, and rare birds are not uncommon! While on these trips, teams will be working together to set up and take down camp each day, propel their canoes through the various lakes, and transport canoes and supplies over portage routes. These trips provide a valuable team-oriented experience, where strong lifelong friendships are formed, and leadership skills are cultivated. LIT's will be responsible for packing their food and other supplies themselves. They will also be responsible for planning their days while out in the wilderness.
Two qualified trip leaders accompany every wilderness trip.
Note: Parents of special needs campers or anaphylactic campers must contact the office at registration@ekon.ca prior to camp registration.
